3 Highly Effective & Simple Methods of Meditation

Meditation is basically the art of silencing mind through concentration on any single object, mantra, idol or any other object of interest focusing completely to increase awareness of the present moment. It is a gift to us by the creator who has programmed every human mind for Meditation, but unfortunately it is lying unused by most of us.

History of Meditation:

Meditation has been practiced for centuries. In Eastern belief systems and religions, it has been followed profoundly. In Western belief systems, Meditation is mentioned in Bible and in the recent years, there is lot of interest and studies undertaken in the Western countries. Originally Meditation has been associated with spirituality, but it has now become an ultimate tool for self development and stress release.

Posture, techniques and styles of Meditation.

The beauty of the fact is that Meditation is not DONE, it HAPPENS. Like you can go to bed, but sleep HAPPENS. For Meditation to happen, all you need to do is to silence your mind, stop formation of thoughts. There are numerous techniques in Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Jainism etc. Most common way is to concentrate with complete focus on a singular object of your interest. According to your belief systems, your temperament and your personal interest, point of concentration can be found out. Just concentrate on that with all your awareness.

3 easiest methods of Meditation:

I have been studying about Meditation for over last two decades. I have spent part of my life in complete seclusion and in retreats doing my research, was also initiated into a particular line of Meditation called “Bindu Dhyaan” (Point Meditation) at Mehi Ashram (Spiritual retreat) in Haridwar, India.

Below are some of the techniques which I found very simple and highly effective to initiate yourself to the art of Meditation. These are very universal in nature & can be practiced by anybody no matter what belief systems or religion or philosophy you follow.

First method: Focusing on breathing perhaps is the best way to Meditate. Sit comfortably on floor or on chair with your eyes closed preferably and an erect spine, and just breathe deeply. Don’t bother too much about posture, belly or chest breathing etc. After years of my research, I found that breathing noisily by contracting the inside of nasal passage at the end of the tongue while breathing; you can listen to your breath and start to go deeper. If you practice with persistence, soon the noise will disappear and your breath will become subtle. You will start to go to deeper levels from here.

Second method: Watching your thoughts is another excellent way to Meditate. Sit comfortably on floor or on chair preferably with your eyes closed, breathe deeply and just observe your thoughts. Do not connect with the thoughts, just observe. The key is being a witness; allow thoughts and feelings to rise and fall. Be detached; let them go without getting drawn into the drama they create. There is no rocket science to it, observing thoughts. The moment you connect with thought, it becomes a chain, leading to one-another and in no time you are transported to wherever your thoughts take you. Subtly ask where am I, I was just observing, and suddenly the chain breaks and you are back to observing. My experience with this method is that the moment you think what am I doing chasing this thought, I was just looking at it, that very moment thoughts vanishes and soon you will start to have a blank state of mind. Your journey to your inner self starts from here.

Third method: Point Meditation or Bindu Dhyaan was initiated to me at Mehi Ashram in Haridwar, India. Sit comfortably, breathe normal, close your eyes and just gaze comfortably but steadily into the darkness ahead. Do not strain, just gaze normally & comfortably. There may be clouds like formations, maybe colors and sometimes white fumes may appear. Persist, soon, a very small tiny needle point like white dot will appear in front of your eyes, maintain steady comfortable gaze on the dot with eyes closed. Soon the dot will become prominent and start to move. The trick here is to keep our STEADY gaze, not moving with the white dot. Your great journey to glories of your true self starts from here.

All of the above methods are highly effective yet very simple and have absolutely no side effects. Try them, master them, Meditate & liberate. God bless you all.
