[I:http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/extras/pics/jenlan1thumb0.jpg]Have you ever had a panic attack? It can be scary indeed, especially if you don’t know why you’re having it. If you know the cause, sometimes you can avoid it, of course, but if you don’t know why you’re having one, it can make it even scarier because you don’t know when one might happen again. In fact, it could happen any time. There is a way you can stop panic attacks if you don’t know why they’re happening, though.
The first thing to know is that you are not alone. Anxiety panic attacks are not unusual. Lots of people suffer from them. Do not be totally embarrassed or self conscious about it, because this will only serve to make it worse. After you have had one panic attack, it may be the stress of worrying about having another one that actually triggers it to happen. It is therefore very important that you know how to stop panic attacks before you have another one.
Stop and take a deep breath. Don’t worry right now about focusing on anything else; simply focus on breathing deeply. If you can, think about what may be causing you stress. Focusing on what is causing you stress and then dealing with it can help make the panic attacks less severe. Don’t ignore the panic attacks if they happen, though, because that’s probably not going to make them go away. If you need to, it’s perfectly acceptable and even recommended to get help. There are therapists who are trained specifically to help you get over panic attacks, and they know what to do. They can help you develop coping mechanisms so that you don’t have panic attacks in the future.
Another good thing you can do is to start getting more exercise. Exercise provides a healthy release for all the pent up energy and emotion in your body. Let it out and project it in a positive direction. Really wear yourself out and your will feel drained. But after some food and rest you will feel rejuvenated and better than ever.
Exercise, too, can help you start feeling good because it releases “feel good” hormones called endorphins that help make you feel good for the short term, but because it helps you get in shape, it’s also might help you feel better about yourself in general. The added self-confidence, too, could help stop panic attacks from happening.
In addition to strenuous exercise, it is good to find some quiet time in your day. Relax for a bit and just listen to your body. You do not have to meditate, but just let yourself have a moment to stop the one thousand and one things that are rattling around in your head and just forget about them for a few minutes. This sounds really simple, but when was the last time you actually took time out of your frantic day to do it?
The most important thing to know about how to stop panic attacks is that you need to stop worrying about having another attack. There is no need to worry about things that are beyond your control, especially when worrying will only make them worse.
