Creating Multidimensional Memory Tables

Even if the idea may seem to be a little bit complicated in reality it is easy. Let me start with mentioning short therm and long therm memory. Probably you know or may realize the difference between them so think about creating another memory area. As a space between two most widely used memory types it needs to operate on certain ways to access it. In this article I will outline system of memorization techniques used to create memory tables.

To remember new information usually we associate it with something we already know or at least it is one of the best ways known to me. With use of mnemonic techniques you have fifty percent greater chance to succeed because they sort out one element. You can create your own mnemonic table with 10 cells by assigning to them different items and situations. It would be nice if they would have suggestive names. Good material for them are graphical elements, symbols and drawings that you liked a lot. Their names can be connected with numbers in rhythmical manner and thanks to that make it easier to remember. Five quick examples? Read them aloud.

01 – biker number one

02 – a crew of two deadly serious pirates

03 – holographic 3d tree expands

04 – scary wild boar

05 – giving five bucks to your buddy

Now it is enough that you remember those elements by creating a simple story that would join them together in funny way. Once you know them you have first cells of your mnemonic table. Being able to spell them out while you are in a critical situation means that you are ready to expand this table by another twenty five memory places. The technique we are going to use for it is known as simple chain method and you have already used it to remember your memory table. When elements are associated with each other in a strongly imaginative and unique way we remember them easier. The more funny and exaggerated associations we create the better. As mentioned memorization process could be subject for few articles I will progress on our mnemonic table.

What you need to do is to create five stories that would begin with first item as one from your main five cells and contain connection with another four items. This way you will end up with twenty five elements of your mnemonic table. The area of dimensionality comes with accessing it through five initial elements and this could be used also for cells numeration. This can be used later on to remember important events and for learning historical dates. Another way of achieving such functionality is to create elements through finding rhyme for each numbers yet for me it takes more time to learn. Note that practical mnemonic table has one hundred cells because in this form it is easy to expand to one thousand cells by applying characteristics (adjectives) system.

Mastering one hundred elements of mnemonic table took me three months and around forty hours of training in small group. Techniques used consisted of projecting slide-shows with images representing each cell and great amounts of repetition on and off learning time. Of course it started with ten first positions so now you can prepare your table at home. Remember that everything with strong emotional attachment is good so if you have collection of favourite posters they are great material. Choice of elements is totally up to you.
