By focusing on heart based emotions we are able to influence the heart rhythm and create the necessary signals that cause the brain to reduce stress and anxiety.

Calming Anxiety through the Heart

Place both hands on your heart and simply breathe in and out slowly, breathing in through your heart and out through your heart. After about 6-7 deep breaths, begin thinking of heart based emotions such as “Forgiveness.” Repeat this word at least ten times until you feel the feeling of forgiveness towards yourself and towards others. It is a good idea to focus on forgiveness as there may be something unconsciously that needs to be forgiven and could be contributing to the anxiety. Another heart based word to focus on is “Peace.” Repeat this word in your mind at least ten times until you feel the feeling of peace. Then, let your heart expand this feeling throughout your whole body starting with you head. Also, you can do a round focusing on the word “anxiety.” This will help bring to the surface more of the anxiety, but since you are holding an intention to release it, you will be safe and you will release your anxiety. Repeat the following phrase at least times. “I release this anxiety.” Finally, close by focusing on the word “peace” again. Remember to have both hands over your heart while you do this.
