Man Who Could Imprint His Memory Onto Photographic Paper Just by Looking at It?

I watched a documentary as a kid, which featured several historic figures known for their paranormal gifts/abilities. One such individual was a man who would go into a trance, then look at photographic paper and his memory would then be imprinted onto it. The documentary footage was black and white and it looked old. Does anyone know who this guy is?
