The rest is just there for re-capping old material, and re-explaining the facts in extra detail. That extra text may help you understand how it’s all relevant to the material as a whole, and you obviously still need to read and understand the whole text, but the simple act of highlighting the most important 10% will give you a huge boost to your comprehension overall.

And, of course, the higher your comprehension, the higher your reading speed will reach. This is because the more familiar you are with the text, the faster you’ll be able to go through it and comprehend it all.
