Should I Read the Textbook During Exam Studying?

i have a neurosci exam on tue and cognitive psych exam on wed
i've been regularly attending classes and taking/typing clear notes (from profs' speeches) for these 2 classes.
The problem is i havent 100% read the textbooks for these 2! :( I probably read a little for these 2 for the past midterms…i found that reading the text took away my time from studying the class notes and i didnt do too well :(
the psych text is just too dry and boring, the neuro text is good but i dont have time…
what should i do for these? i dont know, im like a perfectionist in the sense that i have to freaking read every textbook chapter for a chance of a good mark…
should i just memorize and understand class notes and just fill in the gaps from reading relevant sections of textbook and ignore the rest?
Please helpppppp! how do top students study for their exams?
I dont think im smart at all :( and i cant read and understand textbook very fast and i dont have a photographic memory; i probably rely on patience and luck the most lolll

Suggestion:

I have never read a textbook in all the years I've been a student. I use it to enhance my understanding of the class notes and only read sections that I feel like I don't understand completely. It's probably not necessary to read the entire thing word for word, especially if your notes follow the book pretty closely.

You need to take a different approach. Think about it this way: When you listen to lectures, you don't just listen. You take notes. This is probably the way your brain likes to get information. You can't just passively absorb it. You need do do something with it, to synthesize it.

Instead of just reading the text, outline the chapters. Summarize each section. This doesn't have to be in paragraph form. Use the same techniques as for the typed notes. You don't have to read every word. Try to get the sense of what each section is trying to tell you.

If there are questions at the end of each chapter, try to answer them.

If there are words in bold or terms that seem important, make them into flash cards.

How do top students study for their exams? Every day. Not four days before the exam.

You still have enough time, though. Relax. Do these things, and try to get enough sleep. Don't cram the night before or you'll forget even the most basic stuff.

Good luck!
