In a fast paced society, we are conditioned to ‘fix’ the symptoms of our problems, rather than healing the cause and bringing awareness and balance to the whole. We have been taught that the struggle is just a ‘normal’ part of life… we are even conditioned to breathe automatically. When we are not centered within ourselves, other areas of our lives begin to fall and become imbalanced. When you are focused upon fear, and the emotions of fear, (anxiety, anger, sadness, jealousy, ect.), that negative energy builds up inside of you, causing blockages in the natural flow of life energy. This is the basis of dis-ease. Over time, these energy blockages may develop into physiological and psychological dis-eases. So how do we get from this stressed state of mind to experience a harmonious and abundant state of being? To attain balance within yourself and to extend this balance into other areas of your life, you must begin at your deepest roots. If you have no balance in breath, you have no balance in life. If you have no expansion in breath, you have no expansion in life.
Your breath is literally your life force. Breath is life and life is breath. When you deeply connect with your breath, you can feel the blockages you are holding onto. The body responds to the emotions of fear by tightening and contracting because the mind thinks it needs to be protected. By identifying these blockages, you can bring awareness to thought patterns of the mind that are causing these feelings of tension. You can feel the body react in trying to protect itself by holding and contracting. From this space of awareness, you can consciously release thoughts and emotions that are inhibiting you from experiencing the fullness of life. You can choose to let go and relax into a nourishing and loving breath. In letting go and releasing these emotions, you allow your inner power to flow freely. When you begin to breathe consciously, the body naturally relaxes, the mind quiets, and the blocked energy and tension is naturally released. You are open to receive the gift of life. Breathing in this way gives life force and energy to your entire body and has a therapeutic effect on your health, emotions, and state of mind. It is the beginning of mind-body connection. It is the basis of a healthy, balanced and conscious life. In fact, breathing deeply for only 11 minutes each day is more effective than medicine or exercise. It can also be done during challenging experiences to find release and ease. It seems very simple, and it is. It is also one of the most powerful things you can do to bring awareness and healing to yourself.
