In this article, I will show you how you can be well on your way of doing the same thing too! Think of this article as your “cheat sheet” for hypnosis. Print it out and carry it with you when you’re practicing.
Hypnotizing people can be broken down into five steps. These five steps are the basic structure of putting someone into trance.
1) Attention
2) Induction
3) Deepening
4) Suggestions
5) Awakening
I will go over each of these step in detail below.
1) Attention – You need to have someone’s attention in order to hypnotize them. If they are ignoring you, you can’t hypnotize them. One way hypnotists get people’s attention is to look them in the eyes. Watch some YouTube footage and you will see this used very frequently.
2) Induction – After getting someone’s attention you now want to put them into trance. This can be as simple as just saying, “Close your eyes and sleep now!”
3) Deepening – If you’ve gotten someone through steps one and two, now you want to deepen the trance. In this step, you want them to physically relax more and mentally let go. Here is where you need to adjust to your subject. If you notice them relaxing more and letting go, encourage them by saying, “That’s right. Just relax even more.” You can even throw in phrases like, “Every time you hear the sound of my voice, it makes you go even deeper and relax even more.”
4) Suggestions – Here is where you are basically talking to the unconscious mind. Be responsible here. Say only positive things. I like give suggestions to encourage people and help strengthen their confidence. I like to say things like, “As you are enjoying this state of trance, you can continue to relax knowing that every day you feel more and more confident because you can achieve all the goals in your life.” When you say positive things and get people to feel good while they are in trance, they will want to be hypnotized again. They will have the tendencey to go under faster and deeper the next time you hypnotize them.
5) Awakening – When you wake someone from trance you want to tell them what you’re about to do. Then, you do it! Easy! For esample, “Now, I’m going to count from one to five. When I reach five, you will open your eyes feeling refreshed and alert. Starting with the count. One, two, three, four, almost there, and five wide awake and feeling refreshed.”
Congratulations! You now know more about hypnosis than 98% of the population. Now, go out into the world, be responsible and do good. Hypnotize your friends and family and have tons of fun.
