The Secret of Being Brave

I went for a walk on the beach early this morning and came across an alluring object lying just under the shallow water.

It was an interesting shape and something I had never seen before. At first I thought it was coral or perhaps a shell, but as I began to gently wipe the sand off I could feel the hard shape under my fingers and realised what it was…

A star fish.

Continuing on in my walk, I was thinking of the starfish half buried under the sand. It obviously felt safe being hidden from view but sadly its true beauty was also concealed, lost to those who would appreciate its magnificence.

Relating what I had just seen to my life, I realised how easy it is to blend in with the crowd. Life feels safe that way. Sure, at times I feel brave enough to reveal glimpses of my true self to trusting individuals, but just like the starfish, the true me remains hidden from view.

Then I realised what Mother Nature was trying to tell me:

I need to be brave and be myself. There will be people who won’t take the time to appreciate what I have to offer, but then there are also those who will linger a bit longer and recognise my value.

Mother Nature had just given me another pearl of wisdom to share with the world.

Don’t blend in with the crowd. Be brave to be yourself. There are many out there who would admire your unique qualities.

Be Brave!
