It is a good idea not to fight the gloomy mood, but to let it take over for a bit. Then get up and get grounded. The best way to do so, I find, is to roll your sleeves up and get on with some tidying up around the house. There is always something to do: changing the sheets, doing the dishes from the night before, doing the laundry, cleaning the kitchen, getting stuck into cleaning the fridge which you might have wanted to do for some time, dusting around, getting rid of all those bits that have been lying around since the last delivery… you know, all those little things that accumulate and irritate your sense of aesthetic, but that because of your busyness, and being in your head all the time, you do not seem to find the time to do.
Cleaning and tidying your up your home, is like catching not two birds with one stone, but three. You get a clean home, you get the therapeutic effect of it, because cleaning, dusting, washing, etc. gets rid of stuck energy, which is affecting the energy of the body and it gives a chance for the subconscious mind to bring up whatever is bothering you. Cleaning is either overrated or underrated. We either think that it is a chore or that we have to be obsessed over it. Done regularly, and especially when feeling down and when you have been still with the body for too long, it is a form of active meditation.
Clutter in the outside is a reflection of the clutter that we accumulate around us, without noticing. When the mind is confused and tired, there could be may reasons, like a retrograde planet, or the moon gone void, or some other important planetary influence… sure, it is all very legitimate. Ultimately however a gloomy mood is a build up of too much information that needs processing, and cleaning is the best way to slow that down so that it can all be dealt with efficiently. And when you are done with it all, ha, that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that you get is unbeatable, and then with a clear mind you can sit down and do your head work again.
So when you are down, roll your sleeves up! Thinking of taking a shortcut a getting a cleaner to do it for you, is not the option I am afraid. This is a ‘Do It Yourself Job’; otherwise it would be like sending someone to the therapist when it is you who has the issue. Give it a try; the only thing that you have to lose is a bit of mess, inside and outside.
